Contemporary Workshop, Danielle from The Garage

In this video, I am showing coordination. This exercise requires the dancer to be coordinated, as they need to think about which way they're going to move and how theyre going to move their body to achieve what needs to be done. I could improve this exercise by making sure I keep a contionous amount of energy throughout the exercise. This would allow for a better looking exercise towards the final turn.

In this video, I am demonstrating floorwork, flexibility in my spine and strength. These are all key features in contemporary dance. The floorwork at the start of the video demonstrates the range of movements in my spine and hips- due to the twists. The plank in the video demonstrates strenght in my core and arms. Getting up and sitting back down shows strength in my legs as well as balance. If I were to do this exercise again, I would make sure I could hold the plank for longer and try to get my leg towards my fingers when doing the twists.

In this video, I am doing a partial handstand. This demonstrates balance and strengh withing my core. It also shows flexibility in my legs, from my hip joint and coordination just before stepping into the hanstand. If I were to try this exercise again, I would try to get my leg up even higher and ensure that both of them stay straight.

This is a video of a sequence we learnt, Danielle told us to improvise the final part of the sequence and then perform it to the rest of the class. This sequence incorperates all of the key skills of contemporary dance. If I were to do this sequence again, I would make sure that I knew it all and let my body flow with each movement.
